This is a yearly gig for us. Once the “Holiday” season has wound down, M opens her house on King Street in Port Hope for a mid-winter blow-out. Her place is crammed with art, guests, musicians, wait staff in fishnet stockings, and, usually, Farley Mowatt.
Here we are, towards the end of the night, probably playing Monk’s “Well, You Needn’t”. I think I play Monk with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer.
